Pre-College Programs for High School Students

Edge Summer College Program

Applications for the 2026 Edge summer college program are open for high-achieving students now in their sophomore or junior year of high school.

From July 19–Aug. 8, 2026, students can earn three to six college credits in engaging classes at UD’s Newark campus. Attendees will also learn about the college-search and admissions process, build friendships and take day trips to major cities in the Northeast U.S.

College Readiness Scholars Institute (CRSI)

College Readiness Scholars Institute (CRSI) is for rising 9—12 grade students from Delaware. We offer a free summer college readiness program for first-generation college students and low-income students (i.e. students who qualify for free or reduced lunch).

Applications are still open for CRSI 2026 on a space-available basis. The application will close soon, so we certainly encourage your students to apply now!

SAT and ACT Prep

Students are invited to join UD’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies for a free, one-hour strategy session introducing them to the basics of of the SATs or ACTs, guiding them through sample questions and strategies for success. Students can also join a series of online courses for additional preparation for both exams. For more information, visit our website. Some test-prep courses offer full scholarships for students with demonstrated financial need.

Podcasting

Podcasting June 22–26 | Apply by April 29

Students can create a podcast that shows understanding of narrative structure, audience engagement and effective use of audio elements. This summer program is offered in collaboration with UD’s Department of English and is designed for high school students interested in writing, storytelling, journalism, communication, music, popular culture, digital marketing, debate, web accessibility and multimedia design.

Autonomous Driving Academy

Autonomous Driving Academy July 6–10 | Apply by June 1

This summer, students can work as a team to assemble and program autonomous robots in UD’s internationally known Connected and Autonomous Research Lab. They will develop programming skills in Python, C++ and ROS (Robot Operating System) and gain insights into potential career paths in the rapidly growing autonomous driving and robotics sectors.

Forensic Science

Forensic Science June 22–26 | Currently Full

In the forensic science summer program, students will work with experts in UD’s medical and molecular sciences lab facility to solve mysteries while learning the basics of forensic analysis. They will also visit crime labs and crime scene investigation units. This program is for high school students interested in biomedical sciences, laboratory medicine, biotechnology, criminal justice and crime scene investigation.

Neuroscience

Neuroscience June 22–26 | Currently Full

Students can spend a week over the summer learning from UD faculty and graduate students specializing in neuroscience and participate in a team-based capstone project presented to a panel of neuroscience experts. This program is designed for high school students interested in neuroscience or related fields such as psychology, biology or medicine.
